SOMATICS FOR EXPANDING CONSCIOUSNESS: A PRACTICE GROUP
JULY 15TH, 5:30-8pm
A supportive collective space to practice somatic techniques that can facilitate the healing potential of journeys into expanded states of consciousness. We begin with an accessible movement practice, with various tools from polyvagal techniques to EFT (tapping) to embodied parts work. We move towards a period of solitary integration, with time for journaling (or drawing or contemplative practice). Our time together wraps up with discussions in small groups and a closing circle.
Although psychedelics are not required for shifting perception, many folk are encountering expanded states through psychedelic journeys. Until our culture can embrace this cutting-edge healing modality, engaging in this work can be lonely and stigmatizing. Here is an intimate space to build camaraderie and connection with other seekers exploring the subterranean worlds of the soul. You do not need to be working with psychedelics to participate!
The experiment in July will have an outdoor component, weather dependent. We will be exploring the body as a doorway to an inner nature-scape that helps us navigate the outside world. Come join our practice group to open to the guidance held in the wilderness within and around us.
In this space, you’ll:
• Root into a felt sense of “home” within your body
• Trace the contours of sensation as guidance
• Open to ancestral presence, felt as frisson, rhythm, vision, protection, or call
Together we are gathering inner resources that can guide us through expanded states of awareness. This is not about forcing an experience, but about learning to listen. Attuning to the body, to the unseen, and to the quiet inner knowing that has always been there. Whether you are preparing for deep journeying, integrating past experiences, or simply longing to reconnect with something older and wiser within you, this space welcomes you. No experience needed, just a willingness to enter the mystery.
The map is already inside you. Come remember how to read it.
Preparation: Please reach out to [email protected] to set up an appointment to speak by phone with any questions you have, especially about how to prepare for our time together.

SOMATIC RESOURCING FOR THE GIVERS
SUMMER DATES TBA Calling all teachers, activists, and caretakers to circle up and synchronize our movements and our hearts, to replenish our energy for the work at hand. 75 minutes of Shiné somatics (yoga, EFT, somatic IFS, polyvagal techniques, and other embodied strategies for soul-spelunking) will be followed by an activity for connection. Those of us who are socialized to overgive need to resist the flooding that can happen when we put out more than we take in. We're besieged every day by fear tactics and social media distraction, and the overwhelm makes it easier to hole up and shut down. Come resource from the strength of the collective, and remember what it feels like to be held inside it. We are "phase locking" our neural patterning with one another, to remember the feeling state of belonging. To keep committing to the things we care about, we need to resist the pressure to fall into fear, dissociation, and shut-down. If we can resist being bamboozled out of trusting our senses - eyes and guts - we can tap into a deep way of knowing that restores our resilience. Come circle up and attune to the heart of the whole, remembering how to receive. NOW CONVENING A GROUP - PLEASE REACH OUT WITH INTEREST! |
REPATTERNING DOMINATION, REVIVING MYSTICISM
UPCOMING DATES TBA
How do we get free of the perceptual and somatic shaping that is rooted in domination culture? That is to say, can we create new grooves in the place of sticky feelings of scarcity, perfectionism, superiority, or competition? How do we return to older ways of knowing?
A whole-self approach to social change takes into account the ways that certain ways of being inherited from the culture around us are imprinted into our bodies. Repatterning the rhythms and habits of thinking and feeling takes time, attention, and care. To engage this challenging work, we draw from two orientations:
-social justice somatics (how collective change can only happen in relation to an inner transformation of every level of our being - including sensing, feeling, and intuiting)
and
-a return to mystical ways of knowing (with "mysticism" defined as the belief that we receive messages of wisdom from bigger, broader currents in the world, in direct and deeply embodied ways)
How can we move collectively into a more open experience of body, mind, and heart, to take part in reshaping the world that is constantly shaping us?
CONTRIBUTION: $45 - REGISTRATION IS CLOSED FOR THIS WORKSHOP

THE SOMATICS OF MYSTICISM
An embodied journey into deep presence
2026 DATES TBA
Mystical experience is so often imagined as something that happens “in the head”—a flash of insight, a transcendent idea, a moment of spiritual clarity. But across traditions, mystics describe something different: a body that becomes a doorway. Warmth spreading through the chest, a softening in the belly, trembling at the edges of surrender, a widening field of stillness. Something ancient awakens not above us, but within us. This workshop is a guided, experiential immersion into that doorway. Through intuitive movement, devotional stillness, cellular breathwork, and relational presence, we explore the body not as an obstacle to the sacred, but as its most faithful oracle.
Across this journey, you’ll be invited to slow down and listen deeply. We begin by grounding the nervous system and orienting to the three centers—mind, heart, and gut—so that wisdom can arise from an integrated whole-self presence. Through somatic inquiry and IFS–inspired posture work, you’ll learn how the body speaks in unmistakable truths—yes, no, maybe—and how parts of you long to be witnessed, softened, and met.
As the field broadens, we enter practices drawn from Body-Mind Centering, Laban movement, elemental embodiment, and devotional bowing. These portals reintroduce you to the sacred through breath, gravity, rhythm, and spacious awareness.
In the collective space, we'll move into soul listening, gentle companioning, optional trauma-informed touch, sound-sharing, and the quiet mystery of being sensed and seen.
We close in ritual—rooted, opened, and more deeply attuned to the subtle pulse of the holy.
If you’re longing for a spiritual experience that is felt, not forced—an embodied mysticism that honors intuition, presence, and the wisdom of the living body—this workshop is a homecoming. Join us. Let the body reveal what the mind has never been able to name.

WATERY YOGA
*SUMMERTIME OFFERING*
This workshop explores how water deepens the experience of the yogic limbs of Asana (physical poses), Pranayama (breath work), and Pratyahara (sense withdrawal).
We'll circle up around an outdoor pool (address provided upon registration) for a yoga practice intended to bring you into deeper communion with the elemental power of water. We might play with our reflections in a balancing pose, or dangle our limbs in a supine shape, or meditate on the sound of water. We'll practice breathwork on the pool deck, with the option of exploring it underwater. Folk are invited to play around with yogic shapes that benefit from the release from gravity's pull - like backbends - and also to be floated around the pool one by one, suspended on pool noodles. We close with "crocodile savasana" on the pool deck, to warm back up and come back to earth.
Imagine: you're being floated around a warm pool by your feet, drifting in and out of the sun. Allow some extra time to hang out for a bit after our practice and commune! Lemonade, yoga mats that can get wet and pool noodles provided.

THE EMBODIED ROOTS OF QUAKERISM (at Pendle Hill)
An embodied mini-retreat to rediscover early Quaker spiritual practices.
This mini-retreat invites us to rediscover and reinvigorate the embodied spiritual practices of first generation Friends. Together we will explore the somatic forms of worship that opened early Friends to a direct, unmediated encounter with the Divine, grounded in the body. These early worship forms were so radical – and threatening to Empire – to have been erased from the tradition.
We’ll experiment with what we know of these lost expressions of movement (practices of physical quaking, havening, and prayerful postures), vocalization (like chanting and messages conveyed through sounds), and shared mystical practices (for example, laying on of hands, dream interpretation, and whole-self listening). In recovering an experiential sense of the perceptual pathways available to our ancestors but mostly lost to us, we will taste the bold, countercultural spirit that once defined the Quaker movement. By weaving together history, embodiment, and collective inquiry, we’ll consider how reclaiming the embodied roots of our tradition might strengthen our Quaker witness in today’s world.
